I sent four of my friends invitations.
It asked them to meet me at two o’clock at a specific place and to bring with them a camera and a roll of film.
Upon arrival I explained that we would embark on a trip by foot along the River Thames, from Queen Elizabeth II dock to the Thames barrier.
Along the way I asked them to collectively sit at each bench that we came across. Each time they sat at a bench, they were instructed to take one photograph of a view from the seat.
The siting of the benches along this stretch of river fascinated me. There seemed to be no thought behind their placement nor anything interesting to look at from them.
I became captivated by the idea of finding out what people would consider when asked to take a photograph from their seat.
I took the resulting photographs and created a bound collection of the viewpoints of my friends.
